Hi, We’re Tyler and Nicole!* We’re both in our mid-20s and have been married for about 3 years with a beautiful daughter who just turned one year old. We both work professional jobs, Tyler in consulting and Nicole in finance. We’ve decided against using our real names here because we want to be completely open and honest with you about issues and our lives - financial and otherwise - without having to think about who might be reading.
We wanted to start this blog because we have seen so many friends, family members, and coworkers struggling with finances and making the resources they have available work for them. We started off our marriage with a lot of debt and not a lot of income, and we’ve come a long way since then. Looking carefully at every dollar we spend has enabled us to pay off debt much faster than planned and reduce the financial stress on our marriage. We want to be completely open about our finances so that people can see what an actual family’s budget looks like, get some tips on how to live more frugally (not cheaply, there’s a difference), be inspired to make meaningful, intentional financial choices, and hopefully throw us a few good ideas for household money management as well.
